Ash Wednesday Service

7:00 pm, Wednesday 5 March 2025 in Holy Trinity Ashby. All Welcome. Steve Clowes will be leading our Ash Wednesday service to mark the start of Lent. 

What is Ash Wednesday?  

Ash Wednesday marks the start of Lent (40 days of seeking God's ways for our lives). As part of the Ash Wednesday service, ashes from burning palm crosses are placed on each person's forehead. This is an outward indication of wanting to change how we live. It goes back to the early parts of the Bible where people put ashes on their heads to show they were mourning for what they did wrong. You do not need to be a Christian to attend this service, and you are welcome to attend and to remain in your seat when others go forward to receive the ashes on their forehead.
